Purpose and Scope

The purpose of this membership policy is to define the terms and conditions under which individuals and organizations can become members of Cascadian Action. This policy outlines the benefits, responsibilities, and expectations of membership, as well as the process for applying, renewing, and terminating membership.

The scope of this policy includes all individuals and organizations interested in joining Cascadian Action, including members, applicants, and former members.

Membership Categories

Cascadian Action offers the following membership categories:

• Individual Membership: Open to individuals who support the mission and values of Cascadian Action.
  • Benefits:
    • Access to exclusive events and workshops.
    • Discounts on merchandise and services.
    • Opportunities for volunteer engagement.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Attend at least one event per quarter.
    • Participate in online discussions and forums.
    • Uphold the code of conduct.
    • Pay dues to provide Cascadian Action needed funds for growth and activity.
• Organizational Collaboration: Open to organizations and enterprises that share Cascadian Action’s mission and values.
  • Benefits:
    • Enhanced visibility and promotion.
    • Opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
    • Access to exclusive resources and tools.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Designate a primary point of contact.
    • Participate in quarterly meetings and updates.
    • Uphold the code of conduct.
    • Pay dues to provide Cascadian Action needed funds for growth and activity.
• Student/Low-Income Membership: Open to students who are enrolled in a degree-granting program and/or are otherwise proven to be low-income.
  • Benefits:
    • Reduced or nonexistent membership fees
    • Access to exclusive events and resources
    • Opportunities for mentorship and networking
    • Opportunities for volunteering in your local community
  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide proof of student status (such as a current ID or transcripts) or proof of low-income status (such as food stamps or WIC)
    • Attend at least one event per month
    • Participate in online discussions and forums

Eligibility and Application

To be eligible for membership, applicants must:

• Be at least 16 years old, 18 for leadership positions.
• Agree to the terms and conditions of this policy
• Provide required documentation (e.g. proof of identity)

The application process includes:

1. Submitting an online application form
2. Providing required documentation
3. Paying membership dues (if applicable)
4. Reviewing and agreeing to the terms and conditions of this policy

Membership Terms and Conditions

Membership is annual, with a review that occurs on the anniversary of the member’s initial membership date.

Membership Responsibilities and Obligations

Members are expected to:

• Attend at least one event per quarter (individual members)
• Attend at least one event per month (student members)
• Participate in online discussions and forums
• Uphold the code of conduct
• Regular participation in meetings
• Provide proof of student or low-income status (student/low-income members)

Termination and Suspension

Membership can be terminated or suspended in the following circumstances:

• Failure to pay membership dues
• Breach of the code of conduct
• Non-compliance with membership responsibilities and obligations
• Request by the member

The appeals process includes:

1. Reviewing the decision by the Cascadian Action leadership
2. Providing additional information or context
3. Reconsideration of the decision
